Are you a student from ethnic minority background looking to start a career in cyber? Do you find it a challenging to write your own CV in a way that it maximizes your potential and at the same time catches the attention of the recruiter. Have you thought of using social media to become more visible to the employer? Although having a strong CV is the first step, a relevant social media presence can play an important role in standing out from the crowd in a highly competitive recruitment market.
This free workshop offers answers to your questions. There will be Q & A session at the end of the workshop to allow students to interact and share their thoughts with the industry experts.

About The Ethnic Minority in Cyber (EMiC) Network
While there is a growing cyber security skills gap and high shortage in the UK cyber sector, a recent survey found that only 17% cyber professionals are from the ethnic minority background across all cyber roles. The EMiC network is a pilot network for the Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority cyber academia, professionals and businesses with the long-term aim of significantly improving representation across the cyber sector.
Speaker Bios:
Bal Rai, Managing Director from Cyber Management Alliance and former mentor for the UK’s Cyber Security Challenge will be presenting his popular workshop on developing and marketing your CV and developing interview skills in preparation for a career in cybersecurity.
Bal will be covering topics such as how to layout your CV, highlighting your key competencies, building your expertise via strategic and technical skills, optimising your profile with keywords, developing your online brand, building your network and interview tips. This will be a focussed but fun session and students are encouraged to attend even if you have already created a CV as Bal will be offering some invaluable insight on how and where to apply for jobs for your preferred employers.
