About The Ethnic Minority in Cyber (EMiC) Network
While there is a growing cyber security skills gap and high shortage in the UK cyber sector, a recent survey found that only 17% cyber professionals are from the ethnic minority background across all cyber roles. The EMiC network is a pilot network for the Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority cyber academia, professionals and businesses with the long-term aim of significantly improving representation across the cyber sector.
Bal Rai, Managing Director from Cyber Management Alliance and former mentor for the UK’s Cyber Security Challenge will be presenting his popular workshop on developing and marketing your CV and developing interview skills in preparation for a career in cybersecurity.
Bal will be covering topics such as how to layout your CV, highlighting your key competencies, building your expertise via strategic and technical skills, optimising your profile with keywords, developing your online brand, building your network and interview tips. This will be a focussed but fun session and students are encouraged to attend even if you have already created a CV as Bal will be offering some invaluable insight on how and where to apply for jobs for your preferred employers.
Bal has assisted hundreds of students and career changers with improving and developing their strategies to secure roles at organisations including NCC, Palo Alto, KPMG, Citi, Digital Shadows, Sky, BT, ABN AMRO and many more.
